Hiring Range $11.00 – $12.63 per hour</center>

We currently have full-time opening for a youth counselor in the Hope Street Shelter Program. Your primary responsibility will be to assure the maintenance of a safe, healthy and respectful environment in which children can grow and through which individual treatment plans can be implemented. You will be specifically responsible for the movement of youth through scheduled activities, promoting an atmosphere of influence and respect, which provides a consistent and secure environment, and providing growth producing activities for both the group and individual in accord with group living plans.




Primary responsibilities include:

• Provide nurturing care, support and guidance during the day and evening hours
  
  
  
• Work with team to plan activities and programs in accordance with youth’s treatment plan
  
  
  
• Exhibit positive adult role modeling
  
  
  
• Ability to work with teens experiencing crisis
  
  
  
• Able to interact and work well with a diverse population
  
  
  
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  
  
  
• Work well independently and as part of a team
  
  
  
• Help mentor youth in life skills training
  
  
  
• Will plan activities

Requirements:

• BA/BS in Human Service or related area
  
  
  
• Some previous experience
  
  
  Or
  
  
  
• Minimum of two years full time previous experience with youth (preferably some with homeless youth)

PREFER PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH TEENAGE HOMELESS/RUNAWAY YOUTH
